Winter, as Jon Snow has been saying for years, is coming. Luckily, we don’t have White Walkers, or the Army of the Dead to prepare for! However, we do have cold, bitter nights, and swirling rain to contend with. The days get shorter, and the long, dark nights set in, and this can be quite depressing. In order to keep warm and healthy during the winter, it’s essential to make sure you’re eating right. That means choosing some delicious dishes to help you through the colder winter nights – here are 5 sumptuous foods to tickle your tastebuds!


Soup is the perfect dish to have at any time of the year, but it’s especially great when winter arrives. You want something hot, tasty, and with a bit of a kick, and soup can be all of those things. What we love the most about soup is how versatile it is, and how many different flavors and types you can have. There is also so much stuff you can combine with soup to make it a snack, or part of a main course. The perfect way to keep the cold chill at bay is to make sure you have as much delicious soup as you can.

Beef Stew

Get the slow cooker out and dust it off, it’s stew time! Stew is one of the staple foods when it’s winter time, and is so important for keeping warm. You want to have something filling and tasty, and stew will most certainly give you that. The Brits call this dish bangers and mash, and it’s a winter favorite of theirs. Not hard to see why either, – this delicious meal of sausages and mash potatoes topped with gravy is precisely the winter antidote you need. You might even want to consider adding some veg as well, but there’s no need, it’s the perfect dinner in and of itself. Sausages and mash are tasty and will give you the perfect fuel your body needs for winter.


A lot of people who like curry enjoy getting takeout, but, you might want to get a little more creative and make your own. That way you can be in charge of how hot and spicy it is. The combination of rice and spiced meats has been a Western favorite for years. A curry is awesome to have at any time of the year, but, it’s even better when it’s winter, and the cold wind is howling outside.
