Let’s be honest, we all want to be rich. To be able to live life comfortably without worrying about money is everyone’s dream. However, it seems like only a small percentage of this planet is actually rich. So, what does it take to be one of the world’s wealthy? Here are the top traits only rich people seem to have.
1. Confidence
This is an extremely important trait for those who want to be well-off. The fact is, without confidence it’s unlikely you’ll get very far in life. How would you ever ask for a promotion if you don’t have the guts to do it?! You need the sense that you are able to achieve anything you set your mind to. Without this confidence, you’re already dead in the water. It can be a tough trait to master, but it’s one that will help you out in every aspect of your life. You need to be able to show people that you believe in yourself, if you want others to believe in you too.
2. Energetic
You’ll find that most of the richest people on this planet get by with very little sleep. Yet they always seem to be filled with energy. If you’re the kind of person who would prefer to take an afternoon nap than crack on with work, chances are you’ll never be rich. The wealthy don’t just get by on coffee all day; they have real energy. This comes from having an energetic personality and constantly buzzing about life. If you find yourself slumping then try doing some exercise on the spot, to wake you up. This will also help wake up your brain!
3. Creativity
While we’re on the subject of waking up your brain… You’ll find that rich people tend to be very creative in their thoughts and ideas. Most of those who have come up with a new idea for a business, have had to think outside the box. It’s not just about being creative with business ideas, however. You need to be creative in your methods of approach. Think up new ways of achieving the goals that you’ve set for yourself. Everyone has a spark of creativity in them, it just takes a little bit of passion to let it loose. Make sure you’re doing what you love, and that creative edge will come naturally.
4. Risk Takers
If you want to become rich then you’re going to need to take some form of risks. Perhaps it’s quitting your job to set up your own business. Maybe it’s walking into a boardroom full of strangers, to give a sales pitch. It could be creating a product that no one has ever thought of before. If you want to become successful in life then you need to know how to take risks. Try it out with various aspects of your personal life; such as relationships. Go and ask that guy or girl out, take that risk. Then work out how you can use what you’ve learnt in business or money making.
5. Not Impulsive
While the rich are known for taking risks, none of them are very impulsive. You’re not going to create a product that world has never seen and put it straight to market, without testing the waters. If you want to be rich then you need to reign in that impulsivity. This kind of behavior can make you do silly things, like not thoroughly research or spend money without thinking. When this happens, you’ll probably end up losing more than you make. Ensure you’re not impulsive and carry out a risk assessment, before committing to any big ideas. It’s the only way you’re going to become a success in life and work!
6. Work Minded
Those who can’t wait to clock off at the end of the working day, are most likely never going to be rich. You see, for those who are rolling in the Benjamins, work is life. When they wake up in the morning they check their emails. Before they go to bed at night they write up a to-do list. If you want to make a fortune then you’re going to need to be work minded. Don’t worry about working 80 hour weeks, because you know the rewards will outweigh the lack of sleep. If you would much rather clock off at 5pm to party with your friends, it’s unlikely you’ll ever be rich.
7. Modest
There are dozens of stories about multi-millionaires living a modest lifestyle. Many go to work in the same outfit (Mark Zuckerberg) or drive around in the same car. The fact is, you don’t need to splash the cash to prove you’re successful. Plus, those who spend like there’s no tomorrow will probably find themselves facing debt. If you want to get rich (and stay rich) then you need to be modest about your wealth. Live within your means and don’t become a serial show-off. This means less of the buying champagne for everyone in the bar, and more of setting up a savings account and being modest with your money. And with your personality.
8. Passionate
You speak to any rich and successful person and there’s one thing that always shines through. Their passion. These people have a real love for what they do, not just because it brings them in a small fortune. Chances are, they get into their industry because they had a passion for it. All of the most successful business people have worked on something they’re passionate about. The fact that you love what you do will shine through and encourage more people to be passionate with you. Whether that’s potential customers or team members. If you’re not doing something you love, chances are you’ll never become rich. Or if you do, you won’t be rich and happy.
9. Self-Disciplined
You need a great deal of self-discipline in order to become rich. Especially if you’re planning on setting up your own business. If you find yourself doing the dishes instead of working on your projects, then you’re not going to get very far in life. This is a key trait for any potential business owner, or anyone who wants to become successful in life. You need to be able to give yourself a stern talking to if you let things slide. You’ll find this trait also comes in handy when spending money. Or, not spending money, as the case may be.
10. Assertive
There’s a fine line between being assertive and being an a**hole. You want people to respect you, which means you need to become a leader. All good leaders are assertive. However, if you end up becoming bossy or aggressive then it’s going to put people off. Learn how to ask for what you want in such a way that says “I’m in charge” but doesn’t say “I’m being rude.” If you’re shy or feeble then people will walk all over you. If you’re too far in the other direction, people are going to run away from you. Striking a balance can be difficult, but it’s thoroughly important if you want to become rich.
11. Organized
You’ll never meet a rich person who is a cluttered mess. Unless they’re an artist or other form of creative. Everyone who owns a successful business has to have a degree of organizational skills about them. They have to know exactly what paperwork is on their desk and when it’s due to be completed. They have to know who called them an hour ago and what it is they wanted done. They have everything written down and everything scheduled and planned. Without this trait, you’re likely to end up in a bit of a mess. And, you could be losing money by missing out on important tasks.
12. Entrepreneurial
Finally, it kind of makes sense, but we thought we would add it to the list anyway. Okay, so some people are rich because they are singers or actors. However, even these people will find themselves honing their entrepreneurial traits as their careers come to an end. If you want to be super rich then you need something a bit special. Something not everyone else has. It’s the entrepreneurial mindset that sets these rich out from the crowd. While there may be an upper limit to your earnings as a lawyer or doctor, the sky is the limit when it comes to owning your own business.
